Tennis player Taylor Fritz has made a bold statement, placing Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner above some of the greatest players in history.
In a recent interview with the Tennis Channel, Fritz suggested that these young talents may surpass legends like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal in terms of potential dominance on the tour.
He highlighted their impressive defensive skills and explosive offensive play, noting, “What stands out about Jannik and Carlos is their ability to defend and counterattack effectively.”
He emphasized that during rallies, if he shifts to his forehand, he must deliver an exceptional shot, or risk being pushed out of position.
Fritz compared their lateral movement to that of Djokovic and Nadal, but asserted that their shot speed exceeds that of the past champions: “They move like Rafa and Novak in their primes, but their shots travel about 10 miles per hour faster.”
This comparison is significant, as Jannik and Carlos are still early in their careers, yet they have each won two Grand Slams in 2024. At just 21, Alcaraz’s achievement of four major titles already is a daunting statistic.
