The Cameroonian goalkeeper completely misjudged what appeared to be a straightforward save from Morgan Gibbs-White’s shot, as the hosts suffered a hugely disappointing defeat.

Ruben Amorim was starkly reminded of the challenge ahead at Manchester United as his team slumped to a second consecutive Premier League loss on Saturday, going down 3-2 at home to Nottingham Forest.

United endured a dreadful start when Nikola Milenkovic rose above Lisandro Martinez to head in a corner after just two minutes. It marked the third set-piece goal the Red Devils had conceded in two matches following their struggles against Arsenal.

Rasmus Hojlund brought United level after capitalising on a rebound from Manuel Ugarte’s well-executed play, and Bruno Fernandes nearly put United ahead before halftime, crashing a free-kick against the bar.

But United again made a poor start to the second half as Morgan Gibbs-White restored Forest’s lead following weak goalkeeping from Onana, who was at fault again when Chris Wood extended Forest’s advantage to 3-1.

A thunderous strike from Fernandes gave United a glimmer of hope for a comeback, but they rarely looked likely to find an equaliser.
